So Many Choices

So Many Choices, So Many Choices…. How do you decide??

Part of any wedding or special life event, is the giving of favors to your guests. It is your way of saying “Thank You” to your guests for sharing in your special day!

While, choosing your favors is not as major as choosing a venue, band or DJ, or your menu, it still has to be done and can become overwhelming, especially, with all the choices out there.

Here are some ideas I hope will help you.

“Edibles” –Everyone likes a sweet treat!
Candy: Send your guests home with chocolates, hard candy, peppermints, or even, the traditional Jordan almonds.

Cookies: Whether bakery supplied or homemade from a family recipe, your guests will be delighted to have a treat made especially for them.
Mini Cakes: Bakeries can make mini cakes for your guests to take home and enjoy later.
Wrap your treats in organza, an embossed box, burlap bag, or cellophane with a pretty bow.

“Drinkables” – These would include wine, champagne, even, coffee beans.

Wine & Champagne – Use labels with your names and date to personalize these gifts.

Coffee Beans – Placed in a burlap bag, your guests could enjoy that cup of joe anytime!

“Earthy” – Individual succulent plant, herbs, green or blooming plants are both green and long lasting. You could use a ceramic pot to show them off.  Place them in a kraft or clear bag with the tips peaking through the top of the bag, add some interesting ribbon or raffia, and your guests will be delighted!

“Everyday” – Your guests can use and enjoy these favors everyday, reminding them of your day over and over.
Candles: Votive holders and tea lights always make a great presentation.

Frames can play double duty. They can be used as your place card setting and your guests can add their own photo later. I notice, traditionally, smaller frames (2x3) are used for this. Larger frames (4x6) can be used, as well.  What a statement that will make!

“Elegant” – For everything outside the other categories. If you’re looking to impress, these favors surely will do just that!
Platters – Whether they are Murano style or ceramic, plates, bowls, or platters will surely send your event to the next level.

Espresso sets – You can choose from the intimate set for 2 or a guest-inviting set for 6!

Bar accessories – Having a New York Style event? Martini shakers will be a favor hit!

Wine sets and toppers – Give a set, which includes the wine corkscrew and topper, or just a fancy topper will be appreciated by those wine aficionados. A wine aerator and pourer is another option.

Personalized favors are always fun, but, make sure it’s a gift that your guests won’t mind bringing out when they entertain guests of their own.

Wedding Favor Fun Fact

A Little Wedding Favor Fun Fact:

Wedding favors are gifts given as a gesture of appreciation or gratitude to guests from the bride and groom during a wedding ceremony or a wedding reception.
The tradition of distributing wedding favors is a very old one. It is believed that the first wedding favor, common amongst European aristocrats, was known as a bonbonniere. A bonbonniere is a small trinket box made of crystal, porcelain, and/or precious stones. The contents of these precious boxes were generally sugar cubes or delicate confections, which symbolize wealth and royalty. (In this era, sugar was an expensive commodity and was treasured only among the wealthy. As the price of sugar decreased throughout centuries, the tradition of providing gifts to guests reached the general populace and was embraced by couples of modest means.

As sugar became more affordable, bonbonnieres were replaced with almonds. For centuries, almonds were commonly distributed to wedding guests to signify well wishes on the bridegroom’s new life. In the thirteenth century, almonds coated with sugar, known as confetti, were introduced. Confetti soon transformed to sugared almonds, which later evolved into the wedding favor for modern day weddings.
Traditionally, five Jordan almonds are presented in a confection box or wrapped in elegant fabric to represent Health, Wealth, Happiness, Fertility & Longevity.

Wedding and Special Event Favor Tips from NV Me Gifts

Planning your wedding or event has so many intricate details. Choosing and ordering your favors usually don’t make top priority on the list.  Here are a few simple tips to make this task less stressful.

Choosing your favors…. No matter how simple or extravagant, your favor is expected by your guests. It’s your way of saying Thank you to them for taking time to share your day. Think whether you want to tie it into the theme of your event (beach theme, rustic & vintage, glamorous, etc.), something practical (cheese & knife set, salad set, mail opener, etc.) or maybe compliment the colors of your theme (burlap bag filled with candy or coffee beans… vintage, bowls or plates come in an array of colors… elegant, gold or rhinestone accent frames or candles… glamorous). Whichever you choose, it should be a reflection of you.

Next… order your favors! You don’t want to order your favors too late. There is time needed for processing and shipping. Personalized items may take a little longer, as well. On the flip side, you don’t want to order them too soon. They will just sit around, with the chance of being knocked around and moved from here to there, and, possibly getting broken. With timing in mind, you want to order your favors about 2 months before the event.

Ordering the right amount of favors… While it might seem an added expense, ordering a few extra favors is the smart thing to do. You never know if a surprise guest(s) will show up. You may get gifts after the wedding or event that you would like to give a favor in return. Usually, you give 1 favor per couple or 1 favor per single guest. Having to re-order more favors after the fact may result in extra shipping charges and possibly having to meet a minimum quantity for your order.

Wrapping and presentation of your favors... There’s nothing like the “ooh” and “ahh” when your guests receive their favor. The presentation is just as important as the favor itself.  Using a wrapping service may seem pricey. Take into consideration the cost of wrapping paper, ribbons, any embellishments you might want to add for that special touch, and, lastly, but, most importantly, your time it will take to wrap each of your favors.

I hope these tips were helpful. NV Me Gifts offers exquisite favors of the utmost quality, as well as, wrapping services to make that lasting impression of your event. You will be the “NV” of your guests!

It's All About the Wrap! Favor Presentation Ideas

It’s All About the Wrap!

So you picked the perfect favor but you’re not sure how to wrap it…this is where I come in.  While throwing something in a bag with some tissue paper is quick and easy, there’s something to be said about spending a little extra time to wrap your gifts the old-fashioned way.

There are so many choices when choosing materials. For instance:

A traditional paper wrap (solids or patterns) can be your base, while the ribbon(s), can be layered to create an elegant look. Adding a rhinestone brooch or jewelry, even a silk flower or butterfly will transform your presentation into something special.

My favorite is fabric wrap. Silk, organza or tulle work beautifully, especially, with those odd shaped boxes and wine bottles. Choose accent ribbon, tassels, beads to make your wrap pop. For a really fun event, you can even use bandanas!

Cellophane bags! These are great to let your guests have a peek at their favor. Adding a ribbon or tulle stripe outside the bag and tied with ribbon dresses up the cellophane bag.
Burlap bags… printed or not, are perfect for that rustic themed event. They can be filled with candy, chocolates or coffee beans, whatever YOU like!

Embossed boxes come in a variety of shapes, sizes and designs. No wrap needed with these tasteful boxes, just add a ribbon, and your favors are ready.

Presentation of your favors is just as important as the favor itself. So, whether you decide to wrap your favors yourself or have a service do it for you, remember... It’s All About the Wrap!
